Saturday May 3 swim at St. Georges is Cancelled

There will not be a scheduled swim workout on Saturday, May 3rd due to St. Georges having their annual May Fair event. We will have our regular workout on Sunday, May 4th at it's usual time of 8 - 9 am. All Level C members are invited to this swim.

Message from Club Secretary

Look for an e-mail update soon from Michael. A pub night is being planned. This is a busy time of year for some of us on the "exec'", including travel -- and even (paid) work commitments and pressures! Please do your best to keep the club spirit going and continue to get fitter as longer days and warmer weather approaches. [FYI - Club secretary David is in Scandinavia till the end of May]

Thursdays from April 24: Coached Thursday night bike rides with Judy Latoski

Bike Director Gerry is pleased to announce that Judy Latoski will coach the Thursday night bike sessions beginning this Thursday April 24 through the end of June. The sessions start at 6pm and will finish in time for those who wish to swim at 8pm. The sessions begin and end at St. George’s. Please come out and give Judy a big welcome back to Pacific Spirit. She's a great coach for all levels of biking (has even coached our coaches) and will provide the kind of workout you need at this stage of the season.

VOLUNTEERS PLEASE

- Can You Help an Out-of-Town Triathlete?

The Canadian National Team for the 2008 Triathlon World Championships is looking for home stays for a number of the Canadian team members (including age-groupers) who will be coming for the event in June of this year (events are June 6-8). Remember how grateful you were when someone offered you out-of-town accommodation and how it enriched the local experience. Time to pay back? If you can help out, please contact Lawrence Bendandi

Volunteers still needed for North Shore Triathlon (May 19)

This is our annual Victoria Day 'traditional' gesture of friendship to the North Shore Triathlon Club on their big event. We usually get to marshal the run course and see everyone. By the time we are back home, Kits Pool will be open! Check here for volunteer details

Volunteer online at new ITU Worlds Vancouver Tri website

Check out and add to your Favorites: the new ITU Vancouver Triathlon website at http://www.triathlonvancouver.com. From there you can also sign up online as a volunteer in one of the many areas where your assistance will be appreciated by 2000 competitors from all over the world in the first week of June.

Pacific Spirit is Still Playing Key Role in Vancouver 2008 ITU World Triathlon Championships

Michelle Valancius, our club communications and events director, has given Pacific Spirit members a heads-up that the event team will be looking for organized, enthusiastic people to fill some key volunteer positions for the June 6-8 event. Specifically: supervisors for Volunteer Services, Accreditation, Uniforms, Training Site, Registration, Information, On-Site Athlete Services, Special Events, Opening/Closing Ceremonies, Award Ceremonies.

As Michelle is director of services for the Big Event, you’ll be hearing more from her, Michael, Jim Miller and others about how to get involved in these and other volunteer jobs. Stay tuned! To let Michelle know you are interested in any of these supervisor positions send her an email to volunteer or to get more info.

- Barbara Dortch fundraiser update
