Michael has been participating in the sport of triathlon for the past 5.5 years. He has completed two Ironman races as well as numerous half Ironman and Olympic distance races. 2011 will be a year of rehabing from a knee surgery. Ironman has not been forgotten as he plans to compete at Ironman Canada in 2012.
Michael was bitten by the triathlon bug while watching a friend compete in Ironman Hawaii in 2004. The day after he returned home he was in the bike store buying everything necessary to start his training. Michael is a past president of the club (2007-2008) as well as a former run director and swim director. Michael is also a TriBC Level 2 certified official. Michael takes his vacation each year in October in order to volunteer at the Ironman Hawaii World Championships. Michael proudest moment was crossing the finish line at Ironman Canada in 2007, his first Ironman.

Michelle has been working at triathlon for over 7 years and has, among other distances, 4 Ironman under her belt. Michelle has been a spin instructor for over 11 years and a dedicated gym warrior for longer then she cares to admit and can often be found at the YWCA or BCAC when the weather is not cooperating. In her day job, Michelle is a Human Resources Professional working in downtown Vancouver.

After finishing his basketball career at Queen's University, Kevin was looking for an outlet that didn't require 10 people and a gym for exercise. After watching a friend compete in Kona, Kevin signed up and finished his first Ironman in Canada in 2003. Florida, Arizona (twice) and Louisville races followed in subsequent years. He has been a club member for the past 4 years and is looking forward to giving back to triathlon through helping others enjoy this great sport. Always one to enjoy inaugural events, look for Kevin at Ironman Mont Tremblant in August 2012!

Laura was introduced to endurance sports while studying at McGill University in 2003, when a friend convinced her to join the McGill Tri Club. She was instantly hooked and decided to drop her major in viola performance to pursue health science. Since then she has completed 2 full marathons, 10 half marathons, numerous 5ks and 10ks, 2 open water swim races, a handful of sprint and olympic tris, 2 half irons, and a full Ironman in 2011. Laura is a massage therapist working in downtown Vancouver, with a special interest in treating athletes and musicians.

Seanna got into triathlons in 2008 as way to stay off the couch after a running injury, and has been with PSTC since 2009. She has been actively competing in triathlons over the last few years and favours the shorter distances. Although a relative newbie to triathlon, Seanna was very involved in the track/running world in her past life and hopes to pass some of her enthusiasm on to her fellow club members. When not clothed in spandex, Seanna is a Library Science student at UBC (and therefore cannot actually afford to participate in triathlons).
My first triathlons were in 1985 in Ontario. Distances were not standardized and varied by upto 30% from the current Olympic distance. Half iron man was consistently at the correct length. This continued for several years.
After a break from competing, i returned to triathlons with the North Shore Sprint in 2003. I swam the Skaha Lake 11.8km Ultraswim in 2002 and 2004. Alas this race is no more. I have done the 10km Bay Challenge once as a relay (this is fun) and once solo (this is work). Next year is the 80th anniversary, hope to see you swimming across.
I have volunteered as swim coach with the club for 4 years.
in 2010, I compted in the Subaru Series with a mix of Olympic and Half iron races.

When Andrew moved to Vancouver in 2006, he had never done any kind of racing or training. He heard about Ironman and decided that it was something that he wanted to do. He taught himself how to swim at the age of 27 and started to gradually do some running and biking. He did his first triathlon in 2008 and joined the club in 2009. Since then, he has competed in approximately 30 triathlons including 9 Half Irons and 2 Ironman races. After successful seasons as an age grouper in 2010 and 2011, he turned Pro and raced in his first Pro category race at Ironman Arizona 2011.
Andrew is a certified personal coach for Lifesport Coaching. He also coaches spin sessions, training camps and training clinics. If you have any questions concerning coaching, you can reach him at andrew@lifesportcoaching.com

Ronda has been involved in sports since she was a child. Her primary competitive sports as a youngster were swimming and judo. She holds a black belt in judo and has competed and medaled at a national level. As her work took her to various cities in Western Canada she tried many new sports. She found the best way to explore a new city was by running. Over the years Ronda has run in numerous races from 5k up to marathon. At one point she realized she missed the pool and wanted to get back to swimming. She has been swimming with Pacific Spirit for over eight years. She has done a few sprint triathlons and would like to do more. This is the first year she has been part of the Pacific Spirit Board.
Ronda loves the social and physical benefits of sports/exercise. The club meets those needs, with like-minded people who are competitive and fun.
